Pistol shooting is by far the most challenging type of shooting a person can do. It requires a finesse and skill that can only be built by proper repetition. At Texas Pistol and Rifle we will lay the ground work that if built upon through continued practice will allow you to be the best shooter that you can possibly be. Ammo Selection

Ammo selection for our Bolt Gun shooters is very important. You want to train with the round and brand that you intend to hunt with. Some Bolt guns will prefer some ammo brands over others. To assess which ammo you should be shooting select several brands to try and then make your way to a range that offers at least a 100 yrds in distance, fire 3 shot groups, whichever group is the tightest.. Thats your pony!

Feel

Developing the proper feel or instinct for shooting is what separates the good from the best. The development of proper feel can only come through proper repetition. This is the key reason to train with a set of eyes on you at all times. A person to manage or gap the bridge between what your “feel” is telling you and what is actually going on. The more proper muscle memory programming you develop the more you will be able to rely on your “feel” accurately guide you in any of your shooting activities.

Weapon Selection

Testing out new firearms can sometimes be a difficult task. I mean lets face it, its not like test driving a new car. There’s no lot and sells man for you to walk up to and say i’m here to shoot all your guns today to see what i like. So for some the task of new weapon selection can be a daunting one. At Texas Pistol and Rifle Academy one of the many perks of coming to see us will be the wide array of weapons that you will be able to try so that when you go out to make your weapon selection you can make an educated purchase that will invariably save you time and money.

Discipline

“We are what we repeatedly do” Aristotle said this, have you asked yourself the question lately of what am i doing on a day to day basis to build and develop my skill set with my tools? If you havn’t there’s an excellent chance that your shooting may not be progressing at the rate that you desire. There are no shortcuts for the development of skill in this department or any other in life.

Having Fun

Shooting a weapon well requires many different skill sets. At Texas Pistol and Rifle we believe one of the most important factors is simply having fun. If a shooter is not enjoying the activity there’s very little chance that he or she will ever get any better at it no matter what his or her actual talent would dictate otherwise. We will focus on keeping the activity as fun as possible so that the growth of the shooter will continue.

Fall Hunts

Getting your bolt gun out and prepared for the hunting season is one of our many functions at Texas Pistol and Rifle Academy. Let us get you prepped to insure your hunting success.

Skill vs Talent

In a situation where your bodys normal muscle responses are impared, it will be imperative to execute with skill, which can only be gained through hrs of proper repetition. In handgun shooting the skilled shooter in a competion setting many times will outperform the more talented shooter simply because talent is not a foregone conclusion for success.

Mental Clarity

One of the most important assets a shooter can possess is mental clarity. The ability to see himself executing the shot before he actually does. Visualization is the key in our shooting training doctrine. At Texas Pistol and Rifle we will focus as much on the mental as we do the physical. Tactical or sporting shooting makes not difference..

MOA

MOA stands for min of angle. Most are fully aware of what this term means and how it applies to shooting at a distance. Getting out to 600 yards in your first day with us will take far more than just a conceptual understanding of a MOA, come see what were all about in your 2 day dolt gun program. We will give you more than just conceptual understanding, we will give you confidence at a distance…

Everyday People

As we move about this world on our day to day activity we are constantly surrounded by people. Our awareness of our surroundings is not always what it needs to be. Many times we get so caught up in our own thoughts that we become totally oblivious to the things that are going on around us. More often than not this lack of awareness is the start of the end for us. At Texas Pistol and Rifle we will focus on raising your awareness so that you can avoid the problem before it unfolds. Sporting or Tactical training raising your awareness will be one of the many things you will accomplish in your time with us.

We are what we repeatedly do.

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act, but a habit.”

Aristotle said this, at Texas Pistol and Rifle we will employ this philosophy into our training. We will discipline you to do the uncomfortable until it becomes comfortable. You will build excellence in your shooting habits through repetition. If you continue on with this doctrine in your dry fire you will build a shooting skill set unmatched by most. Come see us for any of our sporting or tactical training products….

Fighting Mindset

No matter what your tool of choice, in the moment the determining factor will be your will to win.

“Life’s battles don’t always go to the stronger or faster man. Sooner or later the man who wins is the man who thinks he can… ”

Vince Lombardi once said this in a locker room. He understood the importance of a fighting mindset. At Texas Pistol and Rifle we focus as much on the mental as we do the physical. Come see us for any of our sporting or tactical training products.

A good fitting holster

At Texas Pistol and Rifle our opinion on a good holster fit is as follows.. A good holster should have a vertical alignment on the hip. This will allow the shooter to access the pistol without bending forward our backward to access. This will facilitate proper technique when drawing the firearm.
